  • August 2-13 - Peter - Poetry workshops, Artist Teacher Institute, Rutgers University-Camden. Educators can earn 60 hours of PD credit during each non-residential summer program. Choose from writing, art and performance workshops for teachers and artists including two poetry workshops with Peter. Rolling admissions until filled. Info
     
  • August 14-20 - MW workshop - Vision, Valley & Revelation: A Getaway for Poets & Writers in Wales, South Wales, UK. Join us for a unique writing getaway near historic Tintern Abbey. Make progress on your book or poetry while immersed in the idyllic setting which inspired Wordsworth. Take advantage of daily writing time, workshops, catered meals & relaxing by the pool. Info

Over the past 17 years, the Getaway has helped thousands of poets & writers develop their craft while making lifelong friends. July 2010

  • July 11-23 - Peter - Master Teacher, NJ Council for the Humanities Summer Teacher Institutes, Richard Stockton College. Educators can earn 45 hours of professional development credit (and optional graduate credits too) during each residential summer program for K-12 teachers. Each session is packed with activities including lectures, discussions, field trips, films, writing workshops, curriculum planning and opportunities to network with scholars and teaching colleagues. Rolling admissions until June 1. Info
     

April 2010

  • April 8-10 - MW table - We're table A2 at the AWP Annual Conference. Look for us at the Bookfair and stop by and say hi, or visit during our author signings:

  • April 23-25 - MW workshop - 5th Annual Weekend Poetry Retreat, Sea Isle City, NJ. Join Peter for a relaxing weekend retreat which will get you writing and offer opportunities to share what you produce in supportive feedback sessions. March 2010

  • March 3, 4 - 8 p.m. - Peter - Reading as part of a tribute to Stephen Dunn. This is the opening event for Stockton's manuscript exhibit on Stephen Dunn's Revision Process. Includes a Meet and Greet Reception, A Tribute to Stephen (by former students by Emari DiGiorgio, Nikole Ingram, Laura McCullough, Joe-Anne McLaughlin, Peter E. Murphy, Maxine Patroni, and BJ Ward) and a poetry reading by Stephen himself. Richard Stockton College, Pomona, NJ. Free.

  • March 20, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. - Peter - Workshop Leader at the aTi Intersession. Peter will be leading a poetry workshop. Description: Using a variety of contemporary poems as models and inspiration, participants will trigger the imagination and strengthen language skills to compose drafts of original poems that are meaningful, satisfying and "true." Learn strategies for developing, interpreting and revising poems that bring the creative writing process to life for all students. Held at Rutgers University, Camden, NJ. Registration required.
     
  • March 27, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. - Peter - Workshop Leader at the South Jersey Cultural Alliance's Artist Professional Development Workshop: Getting the Tools You Need. There will be breakout sessions and networking opportunities for for visual, literary and performing artists. Peter will be leading a session on The Business of Writing which can help you put your writing life in order. Learn strategies to organize yourself so you spend more time writing and less time futzing about the business part of the business. Held at the Herman T. Costello Lyceum Hall, Burlington, NJ. This one day conference will explore the challenges of primary health care through the eyes of doctors, nurses, poets and writers. Keynote speakers include Danielle Ofri, M.D., poet, writer and editor of the Bellevue Literary Review.

  • August 22-28 - MW workshop - Myth, Mountain & Imagination: A Getaway for Poets & Writers in Wales, North Wales, UK. Write new poems or prose while immersed in the breathtaking landscape which inspired the legend of King Arthur and the Welsh epic The Mabinogion. Peter's unique assignments will challenge you to stretch your imagination by exploring your personal myth to produce new work based on life experiences, fantasies and dreams. Filled!
